From idea to relaunch
Bess creator Christy Mack met British born artist Robert Bissell just in time to retell his story and showcase his art in the manner with which he intended it to be understood in the world.
Christy interviewed Robert extensively in his art-filled San Francisco and San Rafael studios to discern his past and determine what he wanted for his future. She rewrote the story of his artistic history, influences + intent and with Robert curated a collection of existing and new work to share alongside his story.
This refresh in his artistic identity became the platform for Robert’s reintegration into the contemporary art movement, both in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Christy and Robert relaunched his story + art online, in print and to the press, resulting in his return to white wall galleries. Robert secured his first ever solo exhibit at London’s Hay Hill Gallery after the relaunch and his work was selected by DeWitt Cheng, a San Francisco art writer and critic, and Elizabeth Ferrer, Director of Contemporary Art at BRIC in Brooklyn, for inclusion in Sky: A National Juried Exhibition at the Bedford Galley in Walnut Creek, California.
